VANESSA SEPUL-AZCARRAGA, MHC-LP, she/her

If you want to be more fully present in your body, in your relationships, and in your life— I may be the therapist for you!

My holistic approach to mental and relational health takes into account the biological, systemic, social, cultural, emotional, physiological, and spiritual components to health and wellbeing. I help adults and children/teens navigate unsatisfying relationships, self-esteem issues, life and spiritual transitions, grief, and loss, chronic illness or pain, trauma, stress/burn-out, family dynamics, and personal identity struggles.

My educational training includes a Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree in Strategic Design & Management from Parsons.  I am a certified Health Coach and certified Spiritual Counselor.

My approach is client-centered and collaborative, tailored to meet your specific needs and goals with an eye on integrating the mind and body. I draw from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, narrative therapy, transpersonal therapy, emotional intelligence skills, inner-child work, guided visualization, breath work, and mindfulness. I am continually building my skillset and knowledge-base and am happy to share my ever-growing resources.

I am certified in The Safe & Sound Protocol (SSP), an evidence-based treatment developed by Dr. Stephen Porges based on the Polyvagal Theory. SSP treats Social and emotional difficulties (hypervigilance, distractibility,  impulsiveness, melt-downs, dissociative states, behavioral shut-down, hypoarousal, irritability, anger), sound sensitivities (Misophonia, Tinnitus, Menieres Disease, difficulty processing speech/meaning, staying present in human conversation), anxiety (chronic anxiety, social anxiety, presentation anxiety, fear of public speaking) and trauma (PTSD, sleep problems due to worry and ruminating).

You are on this planet to be yourself.  I want you to remember who you really are, letting go of what isn't serving you and connecting with your more radiant self.  Therapeutic relationships develop in a safe and non-judgmental environment that fosters the opportunity to become more aware of your desires and overcome anxieties.  This will allow you to break out of old patterns, learn new skills, and create healthy habits.

Seeking therapy takes a lot of courage and it is a wise choice to care for yourself.  The truth is inside of you. Our sessions will honor your evolving life experience and the strength of your own story in order to make meaningful change a reality.
