Carmen Bowen, she/they
In my work as a psychotherapist, I explore with my clients the intricate dance between love and loss that defines the human experience. These profound moments of emotional investment and vulnerability often lead to significant personal growth and transformation. Grief, while deeply painful, also illuminates the aspects of our lives that are most meaningful.
Change is the only constant, and whether you're navigating a breakup, career shift, health diagnosis, a child leaving for college, or the loss of a loved one, these pivotal moments shape who we are. They also offer opportunities for new insights and transformations in your identity and worldview.
I am here to support you on your therapeutic journey, whether you’re dealing with grief, life transitions, trauma, substance use, sobriety, self-discovery, people-pleasing, codependency, or issues specific to the LGBTQIA+ community. Together, we can work towards healing and growth, and I would be honored to be part of your path forward.
With nearly 14 years of experience in both inpatient and outpatient substance use treatment, I have worked with individuals and families using various modalities, including individual and group therapy. My training includes Trauma Counseling, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Exposure and Response Prevention, and Motivational Interviewing. I am guided by Family Systems, Attachment, Polyvagal, and Humanistic Theories. My approach is trauma-informed, non-judgmental, authentic, collaborative, and, at times, humorous. I am open to discussing my own marginalized and privileged identities and how my experiences shape my work as a therapist.
I will invest the time needed to build trust, safety, and connection in our relationship so we can work toward your unique therapy goals. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Certificate in Trauma Counseling from Antioch University, a BAS degree in Child, Youth, and Family Studies, and an AAS degree in Alcohol and Chemical Dependency from Edmonds College. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, cooking, attending live performances, being outdoors, and spending time with family, pets, and friends.
